Aberdeen, Carolina & Western Photo Gallery

The Aberdeen, Carolina & Western Railway operates freight service on two former lines of the original Norfolk Southern intersecting at Star, NC. The Aberdeen, NC to Star line, 34 miles, was operated by ACWR predecessor Aberdeen & Briar Patch from 1982 until 1987, when the railroad's assets were acquired by the ACWR. The Charlotte, NC to Gulf line, 104 miles, was leased from NS in 1989. The ACWR connects with CSX at Aberdeen, Norfolk Southern at Charlotte and Gulf, the Atlantic & Western at Gulf, and Winston-Salem Southbound at Norwood, NC.
