| The Yadkin Valley Railroad operates
an ex-Southern Railway line from a connection
with Norfolk Southern at Rural Hall, NC to North
WIlkesboro, 93 miles. The YVRR
operates seven days per week. Major customers
include Lowes Company, Perdue Farms, R.J.
Reynolds, Tyson, and Weyerhauser. The YVRR is
owned by Gulf & Ohio Railways and
locomotives carry the G&O family paint
scheme.

enginehouse in Rural Hall. Heading west, the
railroad runs between NC Highway 268 and the
Yadkin River in Elkin, then stays close to NC 268
through Ronda, Roaring River, and into North
Wilkesboro.
