| Welcome to the PeachState Rails
Railfan Guide. The guide contains mini-tours of
railroads featured on this site. The tours
include directions to photo locations, parking
and related information about the area, and what
you might see when you get there. The Railfan
Guide will be updated on a regular basis. If you
have new information, corrections, or would like
to contribute information about favorite train
watching location to the Guide, contact PeachState Rails.

Railfan Safety
Do
Not Trespass. Railroad right-of-way
and much of the adjacent land is private
property. Do not enter private property without
obtaining prior permission.
Personal
Safety. Rail lines in
Atlanta, like other large cities, operate through
industrial and commercial areas away from heavily
traveled streets. Use common sense to maintain
your personal safety. Be aware of your
surroundings, keep your vehicle in sight, travel
with other railfans when possible, and leave most
areas well before dark.
Be
a good citizen.
Stay out of the way and be friendly. If you are
asked to leave, be courteous and do so
immediately. Failure to do so could result in a
visit by the local police and get that prime
train viewing location closed.
Visit
Operation Lifesaver for more
information about railfan safety.

are knowledgeable and more than glad to answer
questions. Yahoo! Groups lists over
300 railroad related groups.

U.S.
Geological Survey topographic maps are a must
when you make that railfan trip. USGS maps show
roads, natural and man-made landmarks, and
abandoned right-of-ways. Maps can be ordered
online.
TerraServer offer free
satellite photos and digitized USGS maps that can
be downloaded to your computer.
Mapquest and related
online map sites provide general directions to
